And isn't it fascinating that a handful of upper caste allegedly keeps you down for 2500 yrs. if your ancestors would have been strong enough then they must have revolted against it. See even British couldn't hoodwink us for that long. it is in no-ones interest to stay rooted in history and ask for free-lunches.Anirban Ghoshalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17876336931084043793noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20119036.post-30985557100839946512008-05-05T10:23:00.000+05:302008-05-05T10:23:00.000+05:30Some points to remember when the issue of reservat...Some points to remember when the issue of reservation is discussed.
The system of reservation was invented by the so-called upper castes: they reserved the better categories of jobs for themselves and the rest for the so-called lower castes.
Why did they do it? There can be only one rational explanation: they knew they were no match for the rest. Remember the Vedic community was still leading a nomadic or pastoral life when the non-Vedic tribes had built the urban Harappan civilization.BHASKARhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15358610336955926132noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20119036.post-23140094769784161322008-05-04T20:53:00.000+05:302008-05-04T20:53:00.000+05:30Mr. Vinod,It will be very very difficult for such ...Mr. Vinod,

It will be very very difficult for such a person to gain confidence and become independent in life. He will always feel uncomfortable in presence of students who never used the crutches of reservation. In case of difficulties encountered by such a person, he or she will try to seek the protection again to resolve the problem faced and this is laming! This can be directly seen reflected as reserved category students demand a share in private companies as well! Granting such a wish by Govt. does not endorse it as reasons behind such approval are totally different.

In the above paragraph you created the impression that the obc are simply not having the capablitlies, and the 'confidence' to be with those who 'never used the crutches of reservation.'

well what is the reason for that?

Do you think those who have never depended on the crutches of rservation are born with special capabilities?

well in the eyes and mind of the crutched obcs your special capabilities are illgotten for being born in the tradition of robbers and thungs.

So talk sense. So long as both these categories are given the same schooling and the same enviornment from birth, you cannot even think of comparing them. Hence the quota system.

Instead of thinking for the good of all with a civic mind, some like you still see glory in the separate development.Prasanna Raghavanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15639197236363469260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20119036.post-37701555954257736122008-04-28T10:18:00.000+05:302008-04-28T10:18:00.000+05:30Throwing the creamy layer OBC into the general cat...Throwing the creamy layer OBC into the general category is improper, as argued below, with fictitious numbers

All these diatribe can’t answer the fact that why you are so afraid to let OBC’s compete with general people who have almost same credentials and same economic leverage . What prevents them from getting good tuition and anything on the list to succeed. You just want OBCs for OBCs sake or may come to understand , OBCs are not that kosher after all.Anirban Ghoshalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17876336931084043793noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20119036.post-11204281339091286912008-04-24T23:11:00.000+05:302008-04-24T23:11:00.000+05:30To Vinod: A recent study has shown that the share ...To Vinod: A recent study has shown that the share of the Backward Classes in Central services has come down after OBC reservation was introduced. Obviously the creamy layer principle introduced by the Supreme Court is scuttling the provisions of the law. Dr. Satianath Chaudhary has made eminently practical suggestions to overcome the problem of the so-called creamy layer cornering the benefit to the detriment of the more disadvantaged groups among OBCs.BHASKARhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15358610336955926132noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20119036.post-62279597664555529012008-04-23T15:14:00.000+05:302008-04-23T15:14:00.000+05:30Quota system must be abolished altogether. This sy...Quota system must be abolished altogether. This system is doing injustice not to one, but all. Injustice to the so called 'upper casts', obviously, as it discredits its merit students. Injustice to to reserved candidates, as it has consistently failed to bring them at par with real merit student and injustice to the country, as it acts like drag in its flight in the race with other countries.

The most common argument from the benficiaries, when quota system is attacked, is that 'we were kept opressed for over 1000 years and now it is time for you to repay, to bring us back into mainstream business'! Actually the democracy prevalent in India since 1950 itself guranteed that every person will have equal right on opoortunities available based on the merit alone and not cast or creed. However, quota, was introduced and has been in effect till today! The quota system violates the fundamental basis of democracy.

Giving a helping hand is different from offering an obsessive protection. In the later case the protected will in fact become a disable. You are in reality, clipping his wings by offering a constant support which stays with him throughout life! At the time of schooling, at the time of getting job, and at the time of getting promotions! This limits his contribution just to be born to parents who belonged to reserved category!

If the leaders of such communities really want to help, they must find other ways to help their community. One such help could be getting all the education absolutely free from the government to all children (reserved or not) up to 12th standard and let students cruise on their own further. There will be difficulties in this or some other solution, but what we are following today, certainly is not the solution. This must be stopped as it is helping no one except politicians.Vinod Patrikarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04661978716400152319noreply@blogger.com
